Tournament Day - For New Players and Old Goofs Tourne13

Welcome those of you new to the game! I believe it is time for a Sacrifice Tournament! cheers It will be hosted on May 23, 2009 (Saturday) in the Tournament lobby. In a way to welcome the new players I think they should participate with players closer to their skills.

    • New Players: You must have played the game 2 years or less to participate in the novice tournament.

    • Experienced Players: You must have played the game 1 year or more to participate in the experienced tournament.

You may use this format on email...
    Nickname:
    Tournament Nickname:
    Tournament Choice:
    Comments:

If you wish to participate please email ajk1121@hotmail.com with your most commonly used nickname and the nick you wish to use for the tournament and also the tournament you wish to participate in. Put Sac Tourney as your subject line just so i'm clear what the email is about.

    The Rules
Type of Tournament: Beginner's 1v1 Slaughter

    • Players that have a copy of sacrifice with a counterfeit/cracked CD-Key will be able to participate as well.

    • If you are caught using different names to participate multiple times you will be disqualified. Please keep it real and honest!

    • Losses - Cheating or dropping from a game (unless everyone drops) will count as a loss.

    • Wins - Slaughter 66 of your opponent's creatures or desecrate the opposing wizard's Altar.

Note*** Desecrating your opponent's altar will only add 5 more kills to your current total kills.
Winners are decided by the amount of total kills not desecration!

    Settings
For the most part, new maps will be created for the Tourney, courtesy of Dog. One, perhaps two, standard maps will be randomly chosen the day of the competition.

Players will use random for their gods, except for one map, fixed at custom.

    The Winners

There will be a 1st placement for both the novice and experienced tournaments depending on how many overall kills you accomplish.

First place for novice will receive a genuine copy of Sacrifice from GOG.com with all of their awesome extra downloads and have their desired name with a rank of "1337" to go with that copy.

First place for experienced will have their name nominated on the website and on the sacrifice lobbies.

Thank you for reading this post.
Have fun training everyone and best of luck on the tournament!

Tournament Day - For New Players and Old Goofs Empty Some questions

Post  Necross Wed Apr 15, 2009 6:21 am

What is the time range such as 9 am pst to 1130 pm pst? And what do you mean by time playing because there is an overlap as you have under 2 playing the game you're in novice, but over 1 in experienced; Do you mean consent play? What of the game detail like starting level and souls, gib rate, ect?

Embarassed Sorry if these are stupid or annoying questions but they will help me prepare.

To prepare I have to re-customize my spell list as I have gotten a new computer and thus must beat single player over again to get them, also knowing starting level/soul will help me set up my plans as well as spell/unit lists.

Also as I work in a casino I work nights on Saturday until midnight so I will need to figure if I need to wake up early and if so by how much.

The overlap just gives certain new players a chance to participate in the experienced tournament if they feel they have the skills for.

Other game settings will be at random. The maps will be new maps as well and only one of those maps will allow a custom Spell Book to be used
One or perhaps two maps will be ones picked from the most current map pack.

I was wondering if we would have a ref in observe mode or not to record results or it would be on an honor system

You didn't miss much; the tourney didn't happen. I blame this on two events:

1.) Dog's old server being shut down, thanks to his power company. That screwed a lot of the players up I imagine, although that probably could have been fixed if I had emailed them, which leads me to #2.

2.) Not emailing participants about the change in servers. I had a few of the emails, but just didn't notify them pale

Ah well, we can always plan again. Tree suggested that we make the gap between signing up for the tourney and the actual day of it smaller so that players don't forget about it. Sounds reasonable.

Maybe you could also post times for other regions, because even though some of you helped me, I was still thinking "wtf". Even if you do not, could you at least post: "GMT - London, Lisbon..." and the rest that it says Razz Thanks Very Happy

Yes, timing is essential in this situation.
